Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Exponential Velocity-Depth Function In a recent paper (Bullen 1965) some interesting properties of the velocity-depth function v = vo exp (c0z) were derived; however no mention was made of previous work relating to this function. We wish to draw attention to an early analysis (Slotnick 1936) and to an application involving the fitting of experimental data (Mott-Smith 1939). A survey article (Kaufman 1953) has summarized the following properties of a wide variety of velocity-depth functions: equivalent average-velocity-depth function, equivalent velocity-vertical-time function, equivalent average-velocity-vertical-time function; travel-time, displacement and vertical depth to any point of the ray path; surface-to-surface travel time, range, depth to maximum penetration. In particular the expressions for surface-to-surface travel time and range for the exponential function (Bullen equation (31)) are given under the appropriate headings of Table I. McGill University,

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
