Abstract
The highlights of an eight-day study tour of Canadian child health services are described with particular emphasis on the activities of children's hospitals. Some variations from English practice inevitably follow from geographical and political differences between the two countries. All is not better in Canada than in Britain but there is an atmosphere of healthy enthusiasm and vitality, which makes us look tired and apathetic by comparison, and is promoting practical developments where we pay lip service. Canadian children's hospitals are thriving and are playing a leading part in the development of comprehensive child health services.
