Evolution of galaxies and clustering from the Canada-France Redshift Survey
Bibliographic record
Abstract
The Canada-France Redshift Survey (CFRS) sample contains 591 galaxies with secure redshift in the range 0 ! z ! 1:2. We discuss here several results: (1) the luminosity function of blue galaxies evolves with epoch, equivalent to a brightening of ¸1 mag. by z¸ 0:8, or a density change by a factor ¸ 3, while for redder galaxies it is consistent with no-evolution; (2) HST imaging of a small sample of 32 CFRS galaxies with z ? 0:5 shows that the luminosity of discs is higher than the local value by ¸1.2 mag. by z¸0.7; (3) the amplitude of the two-point correlation function on scales ¸ 1h \\Gamma1 Mpc is evolving with epoch, implying a clustering growth, 0 ffl 2, faster than if the clustering was evolving with bound units of constant physical size. 1 Presentation of the Survey The Canada-France Redshift Survey started from the merger of Canadian and French programs ([1]; [2]), prompted by the commissioning of the Multi-Object-Spectrograph at the CFHT in mid-1992. The goal of acquiring s...

Full frame machine prediction
Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one source (direct Gemma or distilled Codex), not a consensus.
