IE TCD MS 9420/2183: Letter from James O'Grady, Labour Candidate, East Leeds Parliamentary Division to Michael Davitt dated 3rd January 1906 concering Davitt's proposed meeting in Leeds: "Many thanks for your kindness in offering tthe 14th for a meeting. I agree with you that Sunday will be of better service than a week night meeting. I understand that my agent is communicating with you as to the arrangements. Will you let him know where he can write, or wire you at any time. When your wire, or rather the wire of the L.R.C., was read at our meeting in the quarter where our own people mostly reside, it was received with enthusiasm. I am glad to inform you that there will be no Liberal Candidate in the field, so that we shall have the joy of a straight fight against the representative of the Tory Party..."
