Abstract

La loi du marché de Stéphane Brizé (2015) met en scène Thierry (interprété par Vincent Lindon), chômeur cinquantenaire contraint d’accepter un emploi de gardien de sécurité dans un supermarché pour subvenir aux besoins de sa famille. Ce film expose frontalement l’assujettissement des individus au sein de la société néolibérale et leur déshumanisation au travail et par le travail : premièrement, par l’esthétique naturaliste du film montrant sans fard la réalité brutale du système ; deuxièmement, par l’intermédiaire d’une culture quasi quotidienne de la négociation et du marchandage ; et troisièmement, par l’utilisation des techniques de surveillance proches de celles du panoptique. Cet article suggère de réfléchir aux qualités et aux limites de La loi du marché en tant que « film social » ; cette analyse en contrepoint s’appuie principalement sur le texte désormais classique de Jacques Rancière, « Il est arrivé quelque chose au réel » (2000), incontournable dans la saisie des différentes modalités de l’inscription de figures de la dissidence dans le cinéma contemporain.
