Located at the University of Windsor, the Real-Time Aquatic Ecosystem Observation Network (RAEON) supports researchers seeking to improve our understanding of the mechanisms and processes underpinning freshwater ecosystems to better manage, rehabilitate, and conserve them. RAEON is part of the Global Water Futures Observatories (GWFO), that operates 64 instrumented water observation sites in lakes, rivers, wetlands, glaciers, and drainage basins across Canada. Focused primarily in the Great Lakes region, RAEON provides environmental sensing instruments that address significant gaps in research and knowledge. RAEON also facilitates community-based water monitoring in the Western basin of Lake Erie, as part of an initiative funded by the Canada Water Agency. This monitoring program is in an early phase. Some sites may not be monitored consistently, and some parameters may not be monitored consistently.
