Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

This study presents the first full structural analysis of Ayat al-Kursi (Qur’an 2:255) using classical ring composition, chiastic symmetry and thematic pairing. Across more than a thousand years of tafsīr literature, scholars sensed that the verse contains a “hidden Divine Name,” yet no consensus was ever reached. Classical mufassirūn suspected Al-Hayy, Al-Qayyūm, Al-‘Aẓīm and others, but the Name could not be identified through vocabulary alone. This paper demonstrates that the Name becomes identifiable only when the architecture of the verse is mapped. Ayat al-Kursi consists of nine structural units arranged in a mirrored pattern around a single, unmatched axis: Verse 5. This central unit expresses boundaryless Divine Knowledge, encompassing past, future, and the unseen. All surrounding units return to this axis, forming a coherent theological geometry. This structural reading resolves the classical debate by showing that the Name expressed by the axial unit — and therefore by the verse’s design — is Al-‘Alīm, the All-Knowing. The study contributes to Qur’anic structural analysis and offers a methodological framework for interpreting verses through internal architecture rather than lexical emphasis.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
