Abstract
Within studies of children of survivors' roots trips, little to no attention has been given to the roles of sex. To challenge the stigma of sex and sexuality within dark tourism, this paper analyzes queer oral history narratives conducted with LGBTQ+ children of Holocaust survivors and how queer sex, desire, and intimacy became foundational and central aspects of how they narrated their experiences of traveling in Europe. I demonstrate how queer sex, desire, and intimacy were used differently within these narratives as a means of providing a narrative structure, navigating postmemory, disrupting heteronormative logics, and creating discomfort for Germans.
