Abstract
MS. XVI E.32 is a Middle English leechbook housed at the York Minster Library which has never been edited. My aim in the present dissertation is to provide an edition of its fourth booklet. This booklet offers a collection of recipes, along with some charms and bloodletting texts, and it has been chosen among the rest because it refers to a man called William of Killingholme. Moreover, as a text written in the last quarter of the fourteenth century, it happens to be one of the earliest medical vernacular writings.
