Abstract
O presente artigo trata-se de reflexões de pesquisa de doutorado com tese já defendida que versa a respeito dos discursos sobre árabes e muçulmanos em livros didáticos de História de uma instituição educacional específica. Tem como objetivo apresentar a análise do capítulo denominado Origens do Mundo Islâmico presente no livro didático de História do 7º ano com destaque para os trechos referentes à presença do Islam no mundo, à sua expansão durante o medievo e especialmente sua permanência em regiões da Península Ibérica do século VIII ao XV, observando se a importância histórica da civilização islâmica assim como se os intercâmbios culturais, econômicos e políticos deste contexto foram abordados e de que maneira. A metodologia consiste em análise discursiva e também iconográfica do capítulo, fundamentada em pesquisa bibliográfica de perspectiva decolonial e crítica. Como resultados constatamos que os intercâmbios sociais não foram abordados, haja vista os contextos serem tratados de forma hermética, sem interlocução com outros, e que a importância do Islam para o mundo não é trazida, sendo esta versada de modo fragmentado e reduzido a personalidades, saberes e invenções destituídos de suas relevâncias históricas e universais enquanto civilização.
