Abstract
Abstract Chapter 7 discusses the development of allegro technique, including how particular barre exercises, such as fondu and frappé, correspond. Various ways of initiating a jump are described, such as from two feet, with a brush or with a lifted leg. A discussion of stretching to develop flexibility is also included, with detailed descriptions of stretches at the barre or on the floor. This chapter introduces the Sixth Ballet Class, which continues to build coordination for pirouettes, as well as more complex exercises and allegro. The following terms and concepts are included in the lesson for the chapter: Tendu in Fondu, Piqué, Rond de jambe en l’air, Frappé, Battement Relevé Lent (also called Dégagé en l’air), Développé, Pirouette with quarter turn, Soubresaut, Pas de chat, and Temps levé.
