A beam scanning technique out of a circularly polarized dual-reflector antenna with a reconfigurable subreflector is proposed. The beam scanning is realized by taking the advantage of near-field focusing (NFF) property of the sub-reflectarray to realize displacement of the virtual source created by the subreflector in the vicinity of the main reflector focal point. Fewer phase adjustments are needed on the subreflector to reconfigure the beam compared to a single reflector system. This work experimentally demonstrates the beam scanning range of up to 6 degrees by implementing near-field focusing technique with the elliptical aperture dish as the main reflector with the projected diameters of$15.18 \lambda$and$10.11 \lambda(\lambda=42 \text{mm})$for the major and minor axes, respectively. A measured 3 dB gain bandwidth of more than 13% is obtained for the proposed system.
