En este trabajo se busca hacer una síntesis sobre el papel que jugó la Iglesia católica en la situación y evolución de las minorías étnico-religiosas en la España medieval. Para ello, se va a valorar principalmente lo siguiente: Cuál era la situación social y jurídica de las minorías musulmana y judía. Qué eventos históricos relevantes les afectaron. Cuál fue la postura de la Iglesia sobre la presencia de estas minorías junto a los cristianos. Cómo influyó la Iglesia en las Coronas hispánicas para imponer sus intereses respecto a este tema. Y cuáles fueron las consecuencias de la aplicación de las disposiciones canónicas a las comunidades hebraica y musulmana
