The G50-UMVA approach in Burundi: laying the groundwork for cohesion, seeking stronger results in agricultural productionstrategic priorities : Report for the effect study of the G50-UMVA expansion program
Bibliographic record
Abstract
This effect study, commissioned by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Burundi and conducted by Wageningen Social & Economic Research, evaluates the G50–UMVA expansion programme in Burundi. The central research question—’What is the effect of the digital services provided through the UMVA platform to G50 groups on the agricultural production of G50 member households in Burundi?’—is addressed using a mixed-methods approach. The study finds that while the programme has strengthened social cohesion and internal savings mechanisms, the measurable added value of the G50–UMVA approach on agricultural productivity and market engagement remains limited. Beyond improving tablet access, the study concludes that digital tools alone are not sufficient: success depends on timely access to inputs, effective market linkages, and the active involvement of well-supported leaders and activators. One recommendation emerging from the Theory of Change analysis is to integrate feedback loops and data-driven adaptation into the platform, ensuring that services evolve in response to users’ needs and local conditions.---C

Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one teacher head, not a consensus.
