Abstract
The article concerns the role of the press in the popularization of foreign literature in the late 1800’s. The weekly magazine 'Prawda' (1881-1915) represents a special case of the presence of Italian literature in Poland as it published many of the first Polish translations of Italian literature, and brought closer to readers such writers as D'Annunzio, Negri, Fogazzaro or Aleramo. It is interesting to see to what extent the activity of this journal had an impact on the Polish reception of Italian literature
