Abstract

-- ABSTRACT : Initial teacher training presents challenges, particularly the integration of theory and practice, which is essential for developing classroom management competence. This integration, intended to be reinforced by alternating between university and internship schools, does not appear to be a priority within the traditional support model: the triad (Gouin & Hamel, 2022). Yet support is crucial and remains limited by an evaluative context that restricts student teachers' reflexivity on their practices, a key component for overcoming the difficulties related to bridging theory and practice. These limitations exacerbate the "reality shock" experienced by novices, as they amplify classroom management challenges, contributing to a concerning teacher attrition rate (Delbart et al., 2024). This qualitative research aims to identify the benefits and limitations of a 360° video-based process dedicated to the analysis of professional practices (APP), offered within an integrative alternating context to support initial training in classroom management. The study follows a multiple-case approach (Merriam & Tisdell, 2016) involving four student teachers (ST) from two Quebec universities. 360° videos of classroom practices recorded during their internships are then analyzed with the help of a heterogeneous group to examine their classroom management practices. Using a framework inspired by Pasche Gossin (2012), the analysis allows for the verbalization of observed practices, the establishment of links between theory and practice, and the proposal of improvement strategies to expand the ST's repertoire of actions. The results highlight numerous benefits of 360° video-based APP, particularly regarding personal and professional development in classroom management, as well as the enhancement of ST reflexivity. However, limitations are also identified, especially those related to the human and contextual factors inherent in this approach. The APP process appears promising for strengthening integrative alternation in initial classroom management training. It promotes reflexive, guided, and authentic learning, helps bridge the gap between theory and practice, and equips ST to meet both personal and professional challenges. These findings support the expansion of the triad model, integrating other supporters, and the implementation of similar initiatives in other contexts, including in continuing education. -- Mot(s) clé(s) en anglais : teacher education, classroom management training, integrative alternating model, theory-practice integration, professional practice analysis, 360° video, support model, reflexivity.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
