Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

In January 2017, Eric Denham, who was on Course 13 at 5BFTS, recorded an interview with Richard McDonough, an IWM (Imperial War Museum) reporter, about his time in the RAF. The interview extended to 12 tapes, of which tapes 2, 3 and 4, provide an insight into his time at Riddle Field, Clewiston (January to July 1943). With permission from the IWM, these three audio tapes are on the 5BFTS Digital Archive. Tape 2 includes some details of his training before he went to Florida, the voyage to Halifax, Canada, his time at RCAF Moncton, the journey to Clewiston and his initial training on the Stearman PT-17. Tape 3 continues with details of his training including the move to the Harvard AT-6. Tape 4 has information about his advanced training, receiving his Wings, his return to the UK on board Queen Elizabeth and continues to discuss further training he received in the UK. The full set of 12 tapes can be found at https://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/80034150

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
