Abstract
A partir de cinc cases de veïns entre mitgeres construïdes entre 1876 i 1902 (casa Maria Montaner a Ronda Universitat, casa Font i Torras al carrer de Sant Pere Mitjà, casa Maria Montaner al carrer Balmes, casa Farreras al carrer Mallorca i casa Lamadrid al carrer Girona) estudiem l’aportació de Domènech i Montaner en la configuració del teixit residencial de l’Eixample de Barcelona. Cinc exemples que ressegueixen el creixement de la ciutat durant aquests anys, des de la Ciutat Vella als nous espais urbans dels carrers Girona i Mallorca, passant pels límits de la nova ciutat fora muralles. El propòsit és analitzar en un context de maduració i consolidació de la casa de veïns quina és l’aportació de Domènech. Fins a quin punt s’ajusta al model que es va conformant des de la dècada dels quaranta del segle XIX o bé fa noves aportacions i indaga camins propis en la definició de l’edifici d’habitatges de renda.
