Abstract
RESUMEN En este estudio teórico se expone el concepto de hospital de día, también llamado hospitalización parcial, y se hace una breve revisión acerca de su origen, ventajas y eficacia para el tratamiento de los trastornos psicopatológicos graves en la infancia y adolescencia. Existe bastante literatura científica acerca de la eficacia de este tipo de tratamientos, pero muy poca que explique el funcionamiento o la estructura optima de estos dispositivos. El principal objetivo del presente artículo es el de proporcionar información acerca del hospital de día infanto-juvenil de Algeciras, incidiendo tanto en los aspectos de su funcionamiento interno, como en los programas de intervención que se desarrollan en dicha unidad de salud mental infanto-juvenil. Se analizan, desde un punto de vista teórico y práctico, aspectos relacionados con el personal e infraestructura, derivación, criterios de inclusión-exclusión, grupos de edad, elaboración del programa de tratamiento individualizado, horario de actividades, programas de intervención y los criterios de alta. Asimismo, se concluye el artículo con una serie de consideraciones que pudieran resultar adecuadas con vistas a mejorar la práctica clínica y la realización de futuras investigaciones. ABSTRACT The day hospital concept, also called partial hospitalisation, is described in this theoretical study where the origin, advantages and effectiveness for the child and adolescent serious psychopathology disorders treatment are reviewed. There is enough scientific literature about the effectiveness of this kind of treatments, but few of them explains the operation or the optimal structure of these work unit. The main target of the present article is to provide information about the child and adolescent day hospital of Algeciras, its internal operation and the treatment programs developed in this child and adolescent mental health work unit. Aspects related to personnel staff and infrastructure, derivation and coordination with other services, inclusion-exclusion criterion, age groups, elaboration of individualized program treatment, schedule of activities, intervention programs and discharging programs are analyzed, from a theoretical and practical point of view. Likewise, this article concludes with a series of considerations that could be appropriate with the aim of improving the clinical practice and the execution of future researches.
