Cet article présente une cartographie du champ des études critiques sur les données (critical data studies). Il retrace son émergence au sein de la littérature anglophone et francophone et précise sa perspective sur le plan épistémologique autour de la constitution d’un objet de recherche propre, la « donnée ». Il organise les travaux rassemblés dans ce champ de recherche autour de deux axes thématiques : l’étude des conséquences de la mise en données sur la vie sociale et l’étude des solutions de remplacement à la datafication.
