Abstract
Ce mémoire multimodal porte sur la perte du compte, l’entrée dans un autre type de temporalité, au-delà du battement, au-delà de la mesure. Cette recherche explore le rythme tel qu’il est utilisé par les artistes de cirque de rue pendant leurs performances, leurs entraînements, et dans leur vie quotidienne. Elle est le fruit de cinq mois de travail de terrain à Palerme, en Sicile, auprès d’artistes de cirque spécialisés dans la corde, les sangles aériennes, la jonglerie, le clown et le trapèze volant. Parce que le cirque est une expérience visuelle, sonore, corporelle et sensorielle, cette recherche s’inscrit dans une anthropologie des sens, en se concentrant sur la manière dont les sens – entendre, voir, ressentir – peuvent transformer le corps et les relations sociales. Elle décrit ce que le corps circassien sait à travers le rythme. Pour représenter ce savoir sensoriel, ce projet multimodal se compose d’un mémoire écrit ainsi que d’un film de long métrage accompagné d’une déclaration artistique
