L’Exposition universelle de 1967, surnommé Expo 67, a été l'un des meilleurs moments pour le Canada de se présenter sur la scène internationale pendant la guerre froide. Cependant, en 1967, le Canada était un pays divisé, en pleine recherche d'une identité nationale claire. Trois récits contradictoires apparaissent lorsqu'on analyse les messages présentés au pavillon canadien, au pavillon québécois et au pavillon des Indiens du Canada, créé par les Autochtones. La guerre froide en cours a affecté les messages des trois pavillons. L'histoire de chaque pavillon a également été complétée, remise en question et élargie par les deux autres. En conséquence, les touristes de l'Expo ont acquis une compréhension étonnamment complète de la culture canadienne, même si cette compréhension ne leur a pas permis d'obtenir des réponses simples
