Abstract
À Florence, au xvie siècle, la statuaire publique connaît une transformation profonde de l’idéal masculin : le corps gracile et raffiné de l’éphèbe, hérité de l’Antiquité et valorisé par l’humanisme, cède progressivement la place à une figure virile et musculeuse, empruntée à l’imaginaire herculéen. Cette évolution, amorcée par Michel‑Ange et reprise par les sculpteurs au service des Médicis, accompagne la consolidation du pouvoir ducal. Le nu masculin devient un vecteur central de légitimation politique, fusionnant beauté classique, énergie guerrière et érotisme dans un langage sculptural chargé de symboles. L’espace urbain florentin se transforme alors en théâtre idéologique, où la domination s’exprime par le corps et sa mise en scène.
