Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

This text analyses the evolution of Francophone identity struggles in the Swiss Jura and Canadian Quebec in the second half of the 20th century, marked by cultural and political demands, sometimes violent. The separatist movements in the Jura and Quebec, although geographically distant, shared militant strategies, oscillating between direct action, satirical humour and popular mobilisation. Despite tensions and risks of radicalisation, these struggles led to a dynamic of democratic resilience. Cultural cooperation, particularly within the French-speaking community, became a vehicle for appeasement and dialogue. The 1983 Jura-Quebec Intergovernmental Agreement embodies this desire to overcome conflicts and build lasting partnerships. This collaboration, although cautious at first, has resulted in exchanges in the fields of education, culture and technology. It illustrates the ability of minorities to transform a legacy of tensions into enriching joint projects rooted in Francophone solidarity and democratic respect.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
