Abstract
There has been a significant migration of Afghan citizens since the invasion of The Taliban beginning in 1996 and recently in 2021. As a result, many Afghan citizens have moved to countries such as Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom (CANZUK) as refugees. According to the UN, there are an estimated 5.8 million Afghan refugees globally in 2024. Migrants commonly face declining health due to lack of awareness of the healthcare system, stigma, and direct costs. While research from countries like Canada and the United Kingdom highlight some aspects of Afghan migrant health, limited data consolidate their healthcare experience throughout the CANZUK countries. The findings from this review can improve advocacy around health care policies for immigrants and refugees, possibly influencing policy-relevant recommendations.
