A Torque-Speed Control Strategy for Brushless DC Motors with 180° Commutation
Bibliographic record
Abstract
Brushless DC (BLDC) motors are extensively used in industrial automation and transportation applications due to their simple control and favorable torque-speed characteristics. The BLDC motors are also commonly used with a voltage source inverter with an adjustable pulse-width modulation (PWM) duty cycle for speed control. The BLDC motors may be controlled using the 120º and 180º commutation logic, while the latter achieves higher dc voltage utilization at the cost of generating higher torque ripple. This paper proposes a two-layer torque-speed control strategy for the 180º commutation. The first PI controller regulates the torque and simultaneously reduces the torque ripple, while the second PI controller regulates the speed. The proposed method is verified on a typical industrial BLDC motor using detailed simulations and hardware experiments, all demonstrating the advantages of the proposed method.

Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one teacher head, not a consensus.
