2023 erschien auf der Streaming-Plattform Disney+ die Miniserie Deutsches Haus. Die Serie basiert auf dem gleichnamigen Roman von Annette Hess und folgt der Dolmetscherin Eva Bruhns. Obwohl die 24-jährige Protagonistin sich auf deutsch-polnische Wirtschaftsübersetzung spezialisiert hat, wird sie von der Frankfurter Staatsanwaltschaft für den Prozess gegen ehemalige Mitglieder des Personals des Konzentrationslagers Auschwitz angestellt. Dieser Artikel erörtert die Frage, wie ein historischer Film zur empathischen Anteilnahme der Zuschauer:innen anregt und worin diese affektive und emotionale Beteiligung besteht. Die Analyse der Miniserie erfolgt aus der Perspektive ausgewählter kognitiver Filmtheorien. Schwerpunkt der Analyse wird dabei auf die emotionale Organisation der Miniserie sowie auf ihr Potenzial, bestimmte Emotionen bei den Zuschauer:innen auszulösen, gelegt.
