Abstract
Cet article aborde la question du rapport présumé entre le Chevalier de Saint-Georges et le romancier Alexandre Dumas, et analyse un roman par l’un des amis de Dumas, Roger de Beauvoir, prétendument inspiré par la vie du Chevalier. Ce roman se sert de lieux communs du mélodrame pour offrir un commentaire sur la décadence de la monarchie française, reflétée symboliquement par l’ascension du mulâtre au sein de la société parisienne, ainsi que sur d’autres questions reliées à la race et à l’identité.
