Abstract
Bien que la Suède vienne de mettre fin à sa politique de neutralité en adhérant à l’OTAN, elle s’est toujours montrée très attentive aux conflits en Europe continentale, craignant d’y être impliquée. La Suède est un allié très particulier dans la mesure où, avant son entrée dans l’Union européenne, aucun accord contraignant n’obligeait la France à venir l’aider militairement si elle était envahie. Pourtant, au vu des liens profonds entre les deux pays et surtout les conséquences stratégiques qu’impliquerait une invasion de la Suède, la France ne pourrait rester indifférente si la Suède était agressée. Ce fut notamment le cas lors de la seconde guerre mondiale et cet article s’intéresse tout particulièrement aux rapports militaires entre la France et la Suède durant cette période. En 1940, les Alliés sont particulièrement préoccupés par la question du minerai suédois et son utilisation par l’industrie militaire allemande. Alors qu’une intervention militaire en Scandinavie apparaît de plus en plus comme probable, la France s’implique tout particulièrement sur ce théâtre loin de ses zones d’opérations habituelles. Après 1940, la France prend soin de garder de bonnes relations avec la Suède et y trouve un écho favorable. En effet, les Suédois, également sous pression allemande, voit dans la figure du maréchal Pétain beaucoup de ressemblance avec leur propre roi maintenant à tout prix leur neutralité. Enfin, à mesure que la fin de la guerre approche, la Suède et la France Libre se rapprochent de plus en plus en nouent des liens forts. La Suède met notamment ses liens diplomatiques avec les Allemands à contribution pour des déportés français emprisonnés dans les camps de concentration allemands.
