Abstract

Dans le cadre de cet article, nous présentons les résultats d’une étude qualitative qui a été réalisée auprès de 16 enseignants œuvrant en Ontario francophone, au Canada, et qui vise à décrire leurs croyances sur la prise en compte du plurilinguisme des élèves dans leurs pratiques. Chaque participant a ainsi pris part à un entretien individuel virtuel et, grâce à une analyse thématique et inductive de ces données, nous avons été à même de relever trois principaux types de croyances : celles relatives à la dimension identitaire et au fait français dans les écoles de l’Ontario, celles qui ont trait au bienêtre socioémotionnel des élèves et, enfin, celles qui portent sur les défis qui sous-tendent l’utilisation d’approches plurilingues en enseignement. Ces résultats nous amènent, en fin de texte, à faire des suggestions contextualisées pour orienter les formations initiales et continues qui sont offertes au corps enseignant dans la province de l’Ontario.
