Abstract Electrochemical catalysis and photocatalysis have garnered significant attention from scientists over the past decade. Recent investigations have explored the use of electrochemical catalysis and photocatalysis to enhance the catalytic activity of nanomaterials. In this review, we provide a basic overview of the relationship between photocatalysis and electrochemical catalysis within the class of nanomaterials. Additionally, we discuss nanocatalysts and their applications, along with the challenges and future prospects of nanomaterials in electrochemical performance.
