Abstract
La concentration médiatique entre les mains d’une poignée d’oligarques nationaux ainsi que la marchandisation du savoir induite par la concurrence instaurée entre les universités ont mené depuis le début du XXIe siècle, au Québec comme ailleurs en Occident, au déclin de la liberté de la presse et de la liberté académique, pourtant garantes d’une opinion publique éclairée et de prises de décision collectives fondées sur des connaissances soumises à l’épreuve des faits. En réponse à l’idéologie néolibérale qui sévit, le militantisme de journalistes et d’universitaires conduit à une impasse, puisqu’il contribue également à dévoyer leurs fonctions. S’il faut renouer avec l’enquête méthodique et la recherche honnête de la vérité, la tâche est ardue dans le régime publicitaire mis en place, qui se caractérise davantage par la manipulation et le mensonge.
