Abstract
This review presents the challenges of providing tuberculosis (TB) care for children exposed to TB infection and explores the social risk factors that increase the likelihood of developing active TB among TB contacts. Addressing childhood TB care will not only contribute to improving the TB epidemiological situation in this age group but will also allow long-term assessment of the situation in relation to reducing the TB infection reservoir among children, adolescents and adults, particularly from the TB transmission hotspots. To provide a unified guide for action that takes into account both medical and social issues associated with TB, it is advisable to coordinate the existing policy documents on TB control measures for children and adolescents at the interdepartmental level.
