Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

The convergence of digital twin technology and quantum computing is opening new horizons for the modeling, control, and optimization of smart grid systems. This paper explores the current research landscape at the intersection of these fields, with a focus on how quantum algorithms, such as the Quantum Approximate Optimization Algorithm (QAOA), can enhance the performance of digital twins in smart energy systems. We conduct a thematic literature review and identify key research trends, technical challenges, and gaps in real-world adoption. A conceptual framework is proposed to integrate quantum modules into classical digital twin architectures. Through a concrete use case, we illustrate the potential benefits of this hybrid approach for smart grid operation. The study concludes by highlighting future research directions toward building scalable, secure, and interoperable quantum-enhanced digital twins for cyber-physical energy systems.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
