Abstract
Cet article analyse l’activisme actionnarial dans le contexte canadien, sous la forme de résolutions de 2000 à 2013, qui portent sur les pratiques de responsabilité sociétale des entreprises cotées. À partir des 269 cas, nous notons une recrudescence du phénomène. Les préoccupations des actionnaires sont principalement (mais pas essentiellement) liées à la question du réchauffement climatique et à celle de la représentation des femmes aux fonctions de direction dans l’entreprise. Le secteur bancaire et les industries à risques sont ciblés de manière préférentielle et ce, principalement par des investisseurs institutionnels. Le taux élevé de retrait des propositions avant l’assemblée générale annuelle montre dans une certaine mesure que les activistes infléchissent la position des entreprises.
