Abstract
The year 1774 marks the beginning of systemic changes in the school system, which also affected the area of material provision of school education. The establishment and expansion of the network of trivial schools primarily meant securing suitable spaces for teaching. In addition to adapting existing buildings, it was also necessary to build new ones, first in places where no school had been located before, and later to replace old and unsuitable ones. The initial research question was how this construction activity was financed in the region of Central Moravia defined by the borders of the neighboring estates of Hranice and Lipník nad Bečvou. The article deals primarily with the role of the owner of the dominion, who had obligations as a lord and as a patron of schools. Using examples of school buildings in individual municipalities, it presents the attitudes of the Dietrichstein princes, as well as the results of negotiations with the regional authority. The source base is the so-called school fasse and its comparison with the preserved agenda of the lord’s office. The study follows the development up to the first quarter of the 19th century.
