A adolescência pode ser caracterizada como um período de vulnerabilidade que pode ser acentuada na presença de alguma característica que diferencie o adolescente de seus pares como, por exemplo, no caso da deficiência auditiva (DA) caracterizada como um distúrbio que impossibilita ou altera a audição e compromete a comunicação e linguagem, podendo assim interferir nas relações sociais, no funcionamento cognitivo e na saúde mental da pessoa com esta condição. Nesse sentido, o presente estudo teve por objetivo comparar e relacionar as possíveis associações entre o repertório de habilidades sociais (HS), indicadores de saúde mental (SM) e funções executivas (FE) apresentados por adolescentes com DA. Participaram do estudo 18 adolescentes com idade entre 12 e 18 anos, de ambos os sexos, divididos em dois grupos: o GE (grupo de estudo) formado por nove sujeitos com DA usuários de aparelho de amplificação sonora individual e/ou implante coclear e o GC (grupo controle) formado por nove adolescentes com audição típica, submetidos à avaliação por meio do Inventário de Habilidades Sociais para adolescentes, teste Wisconsin Classificação por cartas (WCST), Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MOCA), Escala de depressão de Beck (BDI) e Escala multidimensional de ansiedade para crianças e adolescentes (MASC). Os resultados apontaram que quando comparados com seus pares de audição típica, o GE demonstrou desempenho inferior no teste MOCA, melhor em SM, igual em FE e na emissão da maioria das HS, se destacando na emissão da categoria Abordagem Afetiva. Houve correlação relevante entre SM, flexibilidade mental (FE) e algumas classes de HS. Sugere-se que, em parte, o bom desempenho do GE esteja relacionado ao suporte familiar e estar inserido em programas de reabilitação. Espera-se que as correlações desse estudo tragam contribuições para direcionar ou enriquecer ainda mais as práticas de reabilitação para esse público. Por outro lado, suas limitações devem ser contornadas em novos delineamentos de futuras pesquisas.
