Abstract
O artigo tenta interligar a Europa e as Américas. Abstract: There is no clear line betWeen poetry and prose, just as there is no clear line betWeen fiction and non-fiction. "Certamen Vigorosum" occupies this open ground. On the surface it is a memoir, a memory-piece that documents the conjunction betWeen tWo men half a century ago. Ir also serves as the c onjunction betWeen tWo other people, Gwendolyn MacEwen, one of North America's and Canada's finest writers of the past century who died tragically of alcoholism, and the narrator, myself, who, like MacEwen, is a poet, fiction, and non-fiction writet. The piece tries to bridge the space between the Europe and the Americas. Ir places the native narrator in the romance of another history, that of Germany and Arabia at the beginning of the Twentieth Century. This transnationalism is one aspect of the text, but the more important one is how the piece tries to explore the nature of story, both oral and written, and how it functions as it explains who we are and where we are astransplanted Europeans. "Certamen Vigorosum" is about change, how it occurs and what it does to usoThe dark figure of the examiner in Berlin, whose question will change Gerhard's life, to MacEwen and myself who, like ali writers, explore the transformative and document its place and who have spent their liveswaiting for some dark lord to ask them a similar question, to the unresolved wild creature, Atwi, who waits in her cage, ali are reflections of the desire for a physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual change. The piece is metaphoric, both commentary and description. How much is fiction and how much is non-fiction is a question that only memory can answer and the act of remembering is the story of a history biased by the writer's concern for what he can only imagine as truth.Key-words: History. Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
