Abstract
A presente tese de doutorado examina o tema do complexo de inferioridade pós-colonial – que resulta em uma desvalorização da cultura local em favor da estrangeira – e a eleição do abastardamento cultural como estratégia de reinvenção da consciência coletiva e identitária dos indivíduos inseridos nos continentes americanos. A partir da leitura das obras Viva o povo brasileiro, de João Ubaldo Ribeiro (1984), e Le Nez qui voque, de Réjean Ducharme, (1967) – que promovem uma revisitação crítica do passado histórico – assim como da análise das vozes e personagens presentes nessas narrativas, pretendemos identificar elementos que dialoguem, através da metáfora literária, com o processo de formação das identidades culturais brasileira e quebequense. Em ambos os textos, os autores desafiam a noção de pureza cultural e criticam o elitismo, promovendo a valorização do hibridismo cultural.
