Abstract
O objetivo da presente pesquisa é estudar as formas de gestão da pobreza, tal como estas parecem estar se configurando na favela Paraisópolis. Tratase de um diagrama de relações de poder, bem como de formas de intervenção social e urbana em que se articulam dispositivos tradicionais, como a filantropia, mecanismos modernos pautados por critérios de mercado e mecanismos locais de regulação. Nesse cenário, o chamado empreendedorismo e a celebração da pobreza na sua potência empreendedora combinam-se com uma série de outros dispositivos de gestão da ordem aparentemente tão díspares e acabam por impactar a própria produção do espaço. Os dispositivos de mercado emergiriam, dessa maneira, como forma de gestão da ordem sob a lógica da governamentalidade (Foucault) gestão das populações sob o primado da condução das condutas.
