Abstract
Este trabalho de pesquisa tem por intuito analisar as representações da imprensa construídas a respeito da bossa nova, atentando para o fato de como esse gênero/movimento musical esteve em destaque em impressos do Rio de Janeiro a partir da segunda metade do século XX (1959-1963). Através de discussões a respeito da bossa nova, tem-se por objetivo questionar como uma ascendente classe média urbana buscou expressá-la como uma produção popular que atingia toda a sociedade. Neste sentido, por meio das contribuições da Nova História Cultural, serão discutidos e operacionalizados os conceitos de representação e estratégia mediante as contribuições de Roger Chartier e Michel de Certeau, respectivamente, de modo que serão identificadas e analisadas as formas pelas quais os promotores da bossa nova buscaram evidenciar-se, rompendo com a produção musical de então. Através de transformações musicais e novas abordagens temáticas, os músicos da bossa nova tiveram por meio dos impressos a possibilidade de pôr em destaque sua produção musical, embora, praticamente não consumida por grande parte da população.
