Abstract
This year's British Association of Critical Care Nurses (BACCN) Annual Conference was not only a gathering of critical care nurses from across the United Kingdom but also a celebration of 40 years of the association-a true milestone for our community.My original plan had been to attend with my husband, Iain, and our 'Pets as Therapy' black Labrador, Angus.Iain was going to look after Angus while I chaired sessions and helped out as I usually do during the conference.However, when Iain came down with flu just before the event, we agreed it would be best for him to stay home.That meant I'd be travelling solo with Angus-and this year, rather than chairing or filling gaps, I'd simply be attending as a delegate (and full-time dog mum!).
