Face à la crise socio-écologique, l'industrie textile, source majeure de pollution, est appelée à transiter vers des modèles de circularité. Cet article analyse une formation universitaire innovante, enrichie par une collaboration Québec-Cuba, qui articule savoirs académiques et pratiques communautaires. En revalorisant le savoir-faire textile traditionnel, cette pédagogie favorise l’émergence d’une écocitoyenneté tout en développant les compétences techniques et la résilience locale. Cette expérience s’ancre dans le contexte cubain où la rareté des ressources a pérennisé des stratégies créatives de réutilisation et de réparation. Cette « culture de la débrouillardise » rejoint les principes de l'écocitoyenneté que la formation cherche à favoriser et à amplifier. S’appuyant sur l’andragogie et la pédagogie critique de Paulo Freire - axée sur l'apprentissage par l'action et l’engagement social – cette démarche propose un cadre théorique et pratique très pertinent pour explorer la circularité textile. Cette expérience illustre le potentiel de l’interculturalité et des savoirs vernaculaires comme catalyseurs d’une transformation culturelle profonde vers une économie textile plus responsable.
