Abstract
This article focuses on the life and legacy of Başlala Hacı Ali Efendi, the Ruznamçeci of the Fatih Sultan Mehmed Mosque Foundation, who died in 1803 while living in the Rum Mehmed Pasha quarter around the Eski Hamam in Üsküdar. The most important factor is the effort to flesh out Hacı Ali Efendi. His standard of living as a state official is also examined here. At this point, the sources of the study, along with other archival documents, are Hacı Ali Efendi's inheritance records. In addition to the identity and family of the person who died or was confiscated for various reasons, the inheritance records also provide data on the daily life, tastes and intellectual accumulation of the person concerned.
