Abstract
Cet article met en évidence les relations entre le Parti communiste du Canada (marxiste-léniniste) et le Parti du travail d’Albanie dans un contexte ambivalent, où le processus d’instauration des relations bilatérales entre Ottawa et Tirana est anémique, alors que les façades de l’Albanie socialiste et la rhétorique du régime circulent abondamment grâce à une filière très dynamique de prosélytes marxistes et d’instruments de la propagande. L’analyse met l’accent sur la période s’étalant de la naissance du Parti communiste canadien (marxiste-léniniste) en 1970 à l’effondrement du régime en Albanie en 1991 et s’appuie principalement sur des archives inédites du Parti du travail de l’Albanie et du ministère des Affaires étrangères de l’Albanie ainsi que sur les articles de la presse canadienne. Elle vise à répondre aux questions suivantes : Comment se déroulent les relations entre Ottawa et Tirana?; Comment et pourquoi l’Albanie devient-elle un phare du socialisme au Canada?; Pourquoi le Parti communiste canadien (marxiste-léniniste) est-il reconnu par Tirana?; Comment se manifestent ces relations?
