Ce mémoire explore l’influence des composantes sensorielles de l’environnement bâti sur la participation des personnes étudiantes n/Neurodivergentes (PÉN) à leurs activités universitaires signifiantes. Alors que les normes d’accessibilité universelle se concentrent principalement sur les limitations physiques, les besoins sensoriels et cognitifs demeurent peu considérés. Les besoins sensoriels et cognitifs non comblés entraînent notamment stress, fatigue et isolement social chez les PÉN. Objectif : Documenter les freins et les facilitateurs à la participation aux activités universitaires des PÉN. Méthode : Un devis qualitatif de type descriptif-interprétatif a été utilisé. L’échantillon était composé de dix PÉN à l’Université de Sherbrooke. La collecte de données a été menée en trois étapes. Les personnes participantes ont complété des questionnaires en ligne, ont réalisé un parcours commenté et ont pris part à des entrevues semi-structurées afin d’approfondir la discussion. Résultats : Les principaux freins documentés à la participation aux activités universitaires incluent la surcharge sensorielle, l’absence de signalisation et l’aménagement rigide du mobilier. Les facilitateurs identifiés comprennent l’éclairage chaud, les zones calmes, la signalisation claire et la présence d’éléments biophiliques. Ces facilitateurs favorisent la régulation sensorielle, la disponibilité cognitive et le sentiment d’appartenance des personnes étudiantes n/Neurodivergentes. Conclusion : Ce mémoire plaide pour une conception inclusive des campus, inspirée des principes d’accessibilité universelle pour l’environnement bâti, mais aussi du modèle des écoles neuroinclusives (Rajotte et al., 2025), afin de soutenir l’inclusion des personnes étudiantes n/Neurodivergentes dans le milieu académique.
