Abstract
Pivot migratoire majeur des Amériques, le Mexique est de plus en plus pays d’accueil pour les millions de migrants d’Amérique centrale et d’ailleurs, alors que sous l’emprise de la violence et de la pauvreté, il est lui-même pays d’exode. Déjà entamé en Europe face à son durcissement frontalier, le débat sur l’hospitalité trouve au Mexique l’occasion de remettre en question certaines de ses thèses clés. Examinant conjointement la production historique des espaces dévolus aux étrangers au Mexique (hospices, refuges, centres de détention, etc.) et les déterminants socioéconomiques de la migration, cet article montre le lien entre la marginalité des institutions d’hospitalité et leur caractère de classe subalterne. Ce faisant, il explore le lien entre l’hospitalité et l’éthique du soin et interroge son potentiel politique.
