Aquest estudi s’estructura al voltant de la trajectòria educativa d’Àngels Ferrer Sensat entre els anys 1932 i 1941. Durant aquest període, Ferrer fou primer professora de Ciències Naturals a l’Institut-Escola del Parc de la Ciutadella (1932-1939), un institut model d’Escola Nova durant la República. Un cop finalitzada la Guerra Civil espanyola, fou depurada i enviada durant els anys 1940-1941 a l’institut Isabel la Católica, exemple de la Nueva Educación Española de la Dictadura. A través de la comparació de les pràctiques de Ferrer Sensat durant els dos períodes, i des d’una aproximació historicoeducativa, aquest treball pretén analitzar la didàctica pedagògica utilitzada per Ferrer per ensenyar Ciències Naturals en cada context. A la vegada, la recerca permet visualitzar com les pràctiques reals del dia a dia a les aules s’ajustaven — o no—, als ideals d’Escola Nova i Nueva Educación, respectivament. A més, es proposa aquesta docent com un exemple de possibles continuïtats de pràctiques i didàctica de la ciència de l’Escola Nova durant l’etapa de principis del franquisme. Finalment, es vol debatre com els rols de gènere afectaren no només les pràctiques educatives sinó el seu reconeixement.
