Abstract
The court system finally freed the Pompano Boys in 1942, and newspapers and letter writers praised their attorney, Simuel D. McGill. Nevertheless, a new generation of civil rights lawyers began to overtake McGill’s cohort. Headed by Charles Hamilton Houston, the NAACP Legal Defense Fund pursued a broader goal than merely local state cases, no matter how successful the local cases were. Houston and his protégé, Thurgood Marshall, wanted to attack civil rights in federal, rather than state, cases, aiming at education, voting, and housing rights. The new generation had grown up in a nation that witnessed the Great Migration from the South, the persistence of Jim Crow laws, and the post World War I Red Scare, and they faced a wider scourge of segregation. But the earlier generation had made their mark with the first attacks on Jim Crow, and they left a pathway for the younger attorneys to follow.

Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from it
