Abstract

O objetivo deste trabalho foi investigar a percepção monocular de profundidade ou relevo de três máscaras côncavas, branca, cinza-médio e preta, iluminadas por cima, nas posições vertical e invertida, por dois grupos de observadores com faixas etárias diferentes, pessoas idosas e adultos jovens. Ambos os grupos realizaram a inversão monocular da profundidade. Com base na estatística descritiva, observou-se que o grupo de pessoas idosas atribuiu uma estimativa maior, em centímetros, na avaliação da profundidade das máscaras, independentemente da posição e iluminação delas, comparativamente ao grupo de faixa etária menor. Em relação à percepção da máscara côncava de cor preta, observou-se que algumas pessoas idosas não conseguiram fazer a inversão da profundidade.
